It is easy, and even adaptive, to develop patterns of behavior to protect ourselves from pain. Substance use, disordered eating, and maladaptive relationship patterns can be very effective in managing distress in the short-term. When these patterns no longer serve you in the present, therapy can help you learn new, healthier ways of being with yourself and others. My role is to walk with you through difficulty, with the goal of seeing you become a fuller, healthier version of yourself. I am a licensed clinical social worker with a holistic, strengths-based approach to therapy. I specialize in working with trauma, eating disorders, depression, and anxiety disorders.
I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and internal family systems (IFS) with a relational, attachment-focused approach. I may incorporate art, journaling, reading, and music into your healing process as you feel comfortable. I also utilize mind-body techniques such as yoga, mindfulness, movement, and meditation. Compassion, respect, and a sense of humor are integral to my process. I strive to create a non-judgmental, culturally sensitive, LGBTQ affirming environment for my clients. I am also an adoption-competent therapist trained to work with birth parents, adoptive parents, and adopted individuals.
