Therapeutic Techniques We Use
Acceptance Counseling uses a strength-based model. We work together with you to help find inner strengths, build upon them, and achieve healing. We utilize a collaboration of techniques from the modalities below and pride ourselves on the extensive trainings we have completed in these areas.
Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP)
We all strive for connection and avoid the negative feelings of being alone. This technique may benefit you to rebuild lost connections by tapping into your core emotions. You can expect this technique to leave you feeling more grounded to self and others. Learn More
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Interventions
If you are experiencing lack of motivation, panic, lowered self-worth, constant worry, frustration, sadness and strain in your relationships, than we may begin with CBT. We will look at your thoughts that lead to behaviors and see if the behaviors are positive or negative. We will focus on behaviors that make you feel good again. It will help increase emotional resilience, build tolerance for frustrations, and support positive relationships.
Sand Tray Therapy
This is a form of play therapy that can help you or your adolescent explore the inner psyche. It can allow you to build your own world and mold it to your desires through miniature toys and sand. This technique aids in understanding your true self. You can expect some instruction and guidance from your counselor in this model.
Motivational Interviewing (MI) Techniques
Motivational Interviewing is highly successful in treatment of addiction. Ever feel like you are on the fence about quitting drugs or alcohol? Or perhaps the motivation slips depending on the day? This technique can help tap into the ambivalence and help you find motivation and reason for change.
